“Communion has a way of flattening things out...
a way of entangling our roots and joining our hands."
(From Searching for Sunday by Rachel Held Evans)
For 23 years, Sunday morning communion with 5,000+ friends in Christ has been one of the most impactful parts of our weekend of learning, mission, and worship. Inspired by the parable of the Great Banquet in Luke 14 and our common communion liturgy, Pilgrimage 2017 will move us toward our Sunday morning Eucharist where we will be fed and sent into the world to be gracious hosts at the tables we find in our churches, schools, and communities.
Pilgrimage Quadrennial Message
In 2016, we adopted a quadrennial message based on the theme of “You Are Not Alone”. We hope that everyone who comes to Pilgrimage will experience and bear witness to the transformative love of Christ and the North Carolina Conference Youth Ministry Core Values. Our CORE values are:
- Creating meaningful and Christ-centered learning, mission, and worship experiences for youth
- Empowering, equipping, and nurturing youth to become leaders in the local, district, and conference levels of the church
- Practicing Wesleyan traditions while embodying the spirit of Christ in uniting diverse members of our community
2017--You are not alone, you are invited to A Place at the Table.
2018--You are not alone, Plug In to what is here (love of Christ, church family, community, relationships, etc.).
2019--You are not alone, so let your perceptions Shatter. (We are all broken. We are all tempted. We all make mistakes. We are in this together.)
2020--You are not alone, you are Claimed (The love and grace of Christ names, changes, and continually renews).
