Speaker Announcements

We are excited to welcome Kaitlin Curtice to the Pilgrimage 2023 stage. Kaitlin is an award-winning author, poet-storyteller, and public speaker. As an enrolled citizen of the Potawatomi nation, Kaitlin writes on the intersections of spirituality and identity and how that shifts throughout our lives. She will speak on Friday night and Saturday morning.

Our homecoming speaker this year is Landis Barber. As a member of Brown’s Chapel United Methodist Church’s youth gorup, Landis participated in as many conference events as possible – serving as president of the NCCUMC Youth in 2011-2012.  Landis is thrilled to be home, and will speak on Saturday night.

Bishop Connie Shelton, our newly appointed bishop to the North Carolina Annual Conference, will speak on Sunday morning and preside over communion. Bishop Shelton attended Duke Divinity School and served as director of Field Education for three years. She has served many churches in Mississippi and served most recently as a District Superintendent for the East Jackson District before being appointed as our Bishop.

And elsewhere in NC Conference Youth Ministry: Register for Global Vision today!

Are you a high school student who wants to connect with other youth in our conference to learn about social holiness? Global Vision is a high school-only (9th-12th grade) weekend retreat taking place March 24-26, 2023. Now at Camp Rockfish, this event focuses on social holiness and explores the immigrant’s journey, like the story of Emmaus. Our theme is “Walking a Mile in Someone Else’s Shoes.” Scripture tells us, “‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.” (Leviticus 19:33-34, NIV). The deadline to register for Global Vision has been extended. Register for global vision here.

We look forward to seeing you in November!
